Grand Prize: $1,000

1. Contest Organizer

The 1st Annual Union Street Halloween House Contest ("Contest") is organized and administered by Three 23 Marketing & Website Design ("Organizer").

The Contest is intended to celebrate Halloween creativity and community participation among eligible homeowners in Concord, North Carolina.

2. Eligibility

The Contest is open to eligible homeowners located on North or South Union Street or within Historic Concord, Concord, North Carolina.

Participants must be legally eligible to participate in contests under applicable law.

The Organizer reserves the right to verify eligibility and disqualify any entry that does not meet the requirements of these Official Rules.

3. Entry

Entry into the Contest is free. No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win.

Participants must complete the official Contest entry form during the designated registration period.

Only eligible and properly submitted entries will be considered.

4. Registration Period

Contest registration opens October 1, 2026.

The Organizer may establish and publish the final entry deadline and may modify the schedule if necessary.

5. Halloween Decorations

Participants are responsible for decorating their own property.

Decorations must be displayed and substantially completed by the designated judging date.

Participants are responsible for ensuring that their displays comply with all applicable laws, ordinances, HOA rules, and property restrictions.

6. Community Voting

Community members may have an opportunity to vote for their favorite participating Halloween house.

Community voting is intended to provide community input and will be considered as one factor in determining the winning entry.

The Organizer may establish reasonable voting procedures, including limitations on the number of votes that may be submitted by an individual, household, account, or other method.

The Organizer reserves the right to reject or remove votes that it reasonably determines to be fraudulent, automated, duplicated, manipulated, or otherwise inconsistent with the Contest rules.

Community voting does not independently determine the winner.

Receiving the most community votes does not guarantee that an entry will win the Grand Prize.

7. Winner Selection

The winning Halloween house will be determined based on a combination of community voting and sponsor/judging input.

The following factors may be considered:

  • Creativity and originality
  • Overall Halloween theme
  • Visual presentation
  • Attention to detail
  • Overall impact
  • Community voting results
  • Other factors reasonably related to the quality and presentation of the Halloween display

The Contest's designated sponsors/judges will review the eligible entries and community voting results when determining the winner.

8. Final Decision

The final determination of the Contest winner will be made by the designated sponsors/judging panel, and their decision will be final.

Community votes are an important part of the Contest and will be considered during the winner selection process. However, community votes do not automatically determine the winner.

The sponsors/judging panel may select a winner other than the entry receiving the highest number of community votes when, in their judgment, another eligible entry better satisfies the Contest's judging criteria.

All winner selection decisions are final, subject to applicable law.

9. Grand Prize

One eligible winning entry will receive a $1,000 cash prize.

The $1,000 Grand Prize is provided by Turner Orthodontics, the Contest's Grand Prize Sponsor.

Turner Orthodontics is providing the Grand Prize and may participate in the winner selection process as a designated sponsor/judge.

The Grand Prize is not transferable and may not be substituted except at the discretion of the Organizer or as required by law.

The winner is responsible for any federal, state, or local taxes or other obligations associated with accepting the prize.

10. Winner Notification

The potential winner will be contacted using the contact information provided during Contest registration.

If the potential winner cannot be reached, fails to respond within the period specified by the Organizer, is determined to be ineligible, or does not comply with these Official Rules, the Organizer may select an alternate eligible entry.

11. Publicity and Photography

By entering the Contest, participants may be asked to provide permission for the Organizer to photograph or otherwise capture images of their Halloween display for promotional purposes related to the Contest.

The Organizer may use submitted photographs, the participant's name, the general location of the participating property, and images of the Halloween display in connection with promoting the Contest, announcing the winner, and promoting future editions of the event, subject to applicable law.

Participants should not submit photographs containing identifiable individuals without appropriate permission.

12. Property and Safety

Participants are responsible for the safety and legality of their Halloween displays.

The Organizer, sponsors, judges, and their respective representatives are not responsible for damage to property, injuries, accidents, theft, or other incidents associated with participating in or visiting a Contest entry.

Participants should not create displays that obstruct public streets, sidewalks, emergency access, or neighboring properties.

13. Disqualification

The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any entry that:

  • Violates these Official Rules
  • Provides false or misleading information
  • Attempts to manipulate the voting process
  • Uses fraudulent or automated voting methods
  • Engages in conduct intended to unfairly influence the Contest
  • Violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Creates a safety concern or otherwise compromises the integrity of the Contest
